Growth isn’t just about numbers. If you’re going to expand your LIMU team and build your business to its fullest potential, you have to consider quality to be just as important as quantity. You may have 30 Promoters in your organization, but if only three of them are actually making strides to achieve more and continue growing, what good is it to have such a large team?
Work with those who deserve it, not those who demand it.
Think about it in terms of sports. You’re putting together your fantasy football team and strategizing on which players you should draft. You want to come out on top this year, so you need the best of the best on your team. Are you going to go for the tight end who’s ranked 1,108th in the league and projected to bring home a total of only 78 points for the entire season? Or would you rather go for the quarterback ranked 6th in the league who’s expected to score over 300 points this year? The answer should be obvious—choose the very best.
BUILDING AN ALL-STAR TEAM REQUIRES A-PLAYERS.
The same goes for your recruiting efforts. You don’t want someone to join your team if they’re just looking for a handout or won’t put in the work required to succeed in this industry. Before you start prospecting, take note of the following DO’s and DON’Ts that’ll help guide you in recruiting the most valuable, credible and ambitious people to join your team.
1. DO share LIMU with people who share your work ethic.
It’s okay to be selective when deciding who to share the LIMU Experience with. In fact, we recommend it! Les Brown describes it as “OQP”, or “only quality people”. This means making sure to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who’ll do whatever they can to make ends meet rather than just expecting the money and success to come to them. When you prospect hard-working people, you can feel confident in their abilities and drive, meaning less time spent pushing and more time spent building.
2. DON’T do a disservice to high quality-people by not sharing LIMU with them.
Remember, you’re just the messenger. Let LIMU’s free tools like our powerful LIMU Share App do the sorting and sifting for you. Don’t make the mistake of writing someone off just because YOU don’t think they’d be interested in an additional stream of income. People from all walks of life—including doctors, business owners and corporate executives—are involved in Network Marketing and direct sales. Home-based businesses aren’t “beneath” high-quality people.
“GET THE PERSON WITH THE MOST CREDIBILITY, TAKE THEM OFF YOUR CHICKEN LIST AND GO TALK TO THEM!” – JUSTIN MARTIN, 750K PROMOTER
Avoid straying away from certain people simply because you’ve already convinced yourself that they won’t want or need some extra income. You have no idea what they’re struggling with, or what they may be hoping and praying for. Try not to make up someone else’s mind before you’ve even had a chance to personally share the LIMU Experience with them. You’ll never know until you ask!
3. DO go after those who hustle, not those who pretend to.
Focus your attention on hard-working people that want to be more. Pursue the person who works two jobs and still makes time to mow lawns on the way home to make extra money. Talk to the mom with a personal blog and Etsy store. Hit up the guy who has a corporate 9-to-5 and still drives for Uber in his spare time. Share with the pastor who preaches, teaches and is involved in tons of community outreach. Don’t waste your energy on someone with no job and no motivation who sits on the couch playing video games all day. Chances are they’re just looking for easy money and won’t be willing to put in the work required to succeed in this business.
YOUR PROSPECTS SHOULD HAVE GOALS, DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS, PLUS THE PERSEVERANCE TO REACH THEM.
4. DON’T spend your time trying to save the world.
You may feel inclined to help those who are less fortunate, but giving them a handout is not going to really help them. At the end of the day, feeling bad for someone who isn’t financially secure won’t help them get there, nor will it help you grow your business. In order to get the most out of LIMU, you have to recruit driven and determined individuals, not people who are just broke and need money. Look for successful people that you yourself would want to partner with—they should be your top prospects. When you’re making your list, ask yourself, “Who in my circle of influence would I love to team up with?”
5. DO present yourself as a winner.
People want to surround themselves with winners, so always strive to act like one even if you may not be feeling like one. Don’t make a bad first impression—it may kill any chance you had at winning someone over. There’s a subtle art to looking the part. The more professional you present yourself, the more people will respect and trust you. The more passion and conviction you exude, the more confidence you’ll foster in your prospects. This is key in relationship-building, because nobody wants to partner with someone they don’t admire.
6. DON’T prejudge anyone simply because they already make good money.
People are broke at different levels. We tend to increase our spending to match our income level. Just because someone owns a big house and a fancy car doesn’t mean they’re not in any kind of debt or couldn’t use some extra cash. From the outside, it may appear as if a person has everything they could ever want or need. But in reality, you have no idea what their income level is or how much money they actually have in the bank.
This statistic doesn’t only apply to people making minimum wage or living paycheck-to-paycheck. In the event of an emergency, many people don’t have enough monthly income to cover all their bills. 78% of full-time workers said they live paycheck-to-paycheck, as reported by CNBC. That same CareerBuilder report indicated that 71% of all U.S. workers are now in debt. This can also be true for someone making a six-figure salary, simply because the more money a person makes, the more money they will spend.
So, don’t limit your prospecting pool because of your own presumptions. Share LIMU with the high-quality, hard-working and goal-oriented people in your life!
